Last year James Jack shared Tale of Seven Herbs with Precipitate readers in our inaugural issue. These days Jack has been exploring nature-culture connections in Japan and the U.S.
In June, Jack’s solo exhibition Lunar Reflections showed at Gallery K in Tokyo. This installation included LED photographs, video, and film negatives that explore the movement of moon’s light.
In July, Jack’s solo exhibition Natura Naturata showed at Kujira Space in Fujisawa. Natura Naturata is a site-specific installation created with natural pigments from soils surrounding the gallery. Most recently, he’s served as a curator for an exhibition in Honolulu entitled Symbiotic Environments, which showcased work by Toyomi Hoshina and Ritsuko Taho. Look for new projects in the coming year as he’ll be working away during his artist residency at the Honolulu Academy for the Arts.
